During World War II, Julka, a Polish refugee, escapes the horrors of war and seeks safety in Mexico. There, she falls in love with Lorenzo, the son of a wealthy shoemaker from Guanajuato Mexico. Torn apart by circumstance and war, they are separated for decades. In their later years, they are unexpectedly reunited, sharing one final moment to confront the love and loss shaped by time and the choices they made.
